Nintendo recently dropped some big news announcing that they’re making a real-life Legend of Zelda movie! This game is the one with the sword-wielding blond hero who is beloved by many in the video game world. Nintendo has joined forces with Sony to make this happen, and the guy calling the shots is director Wes Ball, the man behind the Maze Runner trilogy.
Nintendo Making a Zelda Movie
While Legend of Zelda has been a Nintendo favorite since way back in 1986 when the first game came out, there has been no movie made about it. People have been talking about a Zelda movie for ages, especially after the success of games like Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom. Netflix even teased a TV show in 2015, but nothing came of it.
Shigeru Miyamoto and Avi Arad will be the producers, with Miyamoto spilling the beans on social media, saying they’ve been cooking up this movie for a long time and Nintendo is right in the mix!
Link on the Big Screen
Nintendo’s always been super protective of their game worlds, especially after the bad Super Mario Bros. movie in 1993. But now, the animated Mario movie by Universal with Chris Pratt blew up this year, making over $1.36 billion worldwide! Now, the Legend of Zelda movie is a bit of a mystery. No one knows what it’s going to look like or who’s going to be in it.
Since 1986, there have been more than 25 games in the series, all about the hero Link and his epic quest with the Master Sword to save Princess Zelda from the bad guy Ganon. How will all of this be transferred to the big screen remains to be seen, but if the last Mario movie is anything to go by, fans will be in for a treat.
